Local Planning Assistance

Local Planning Assistance (LPA) is provided to each of the 40 municipalities within the CMRPC region. Of these 40 communities, approximately half do not have a full time planner on staff. CMRPC provides a valuable resource to those communities by providing such services as writing various zoning bylaws and amendments, subdivision regulations, master planning, open space and recreation planning, and GIS services (see GIS section under Regional Services).

Communities begin with a base of 12 (LPA) hours per fiscal year that can increase to a maximum of 20 hours. Additional hours are obtained through active community participation at various CMRPC events and meetings. If a community does not use all of its hours in a given fiscal year, those hours cannot be carried over into the next fiscal year.
