Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP)

Overview

The Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) managed by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA), provides technical assistance for municipalities to complete climate change vulnerability assessments, develop action-oriented resiliency plans and implement high-priority climate change resilience projects with the help of CMRPC. CMRPC has assisted over 25 municipalities in the region with their MVP planning process since 2018, including data collection, community outreach, research, and final report writing

Having an approved MVP Plan in place automatically makes municipalities eligible for MVP Action & MVP 2.0 Grants that can provide municipalities with funding to advance priority climate adaptation actions, address climate change impacts resulting from extreme weather, inland flooding, extreme heat, etc., and dive deeper into community outreach to re-evaluate priorities if necessary.

Municipalities and governmental entities are allowed to contract directly with CMRPC in accordance with MGL Chapter 30B Sections 1 (b) (3) and (b) (9). Contract with CMRPC, contact CMRPC’s Executive Director, Janet Pierce at jpierce@cmrpc.org
