Regional Brownfields Plan

Plan Goals

The core purposes of the Regional Brownfields Plan are 1) to identify neighborhood-scale areas within the 40-town CMRPC area where brownfields assistance resources are needed most, and 2) to provide neighborhood-wide and site-specific strategies for fostering revitalization of brownfields within these areas. Secondarily, the plan provides regional and municipal context for the brownfields issue, raises awareness of brownfields and brownfields-revitalization tools among local governments and other stakeholders who may lack experience and capacity in this topic area, serves as a road map to guide CMRPC’s brownfields efforts over the next five-to-ten years, and can be used as a tool to support requests for state and federal resources.

Planning Process

The plan was developed with input from CMRPC’s Brownfields Advisory Committee and municipal officials from many communities. Meetings were held October 18, 2016, November 22, 2016  and October 24, 2017 to discuss the planning process and to identify brownfields-impacted neighborhoods and key sites therein. A complete draft plan (less appendices) is available for review below.
