Regional Legislative Priorities Survey - We Need Your Input
Please take a few minutes to take the Regional Legislative Priorities Survey. Your input is important.
CMRPC has recently established its Legislative Affairs Committee to monitor actions of the Massachusetts State Legislature and US Congress as they pertain to concerns within the CMRPC region. The Committee will work in concert with the parallel bodies in the region as well as work closely with and advise the Massachusetts Association of Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA) in its dealings with the State Legislature.
The Legislative Affairs Committee plans to host a breakfast with our central Massachusetts Legislators this year. CMRPC will distribute more information about this event as it takes shape.
As its first activity, the committee has developed a survey to gather information needed to guide its efforts. The survey is available on line here, or at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/cmrpclegpriorities. Please take a few moments to provide us with information that we can use to develop the CMRPC 2012 legislative priorities. The survey is short and should take no more than five to ten minutes. Thanks in advance for your time.
After requesting optional contact information, the survey asks respondents to answer three (3) questions:
- Prioritize the top five (5) issues that the state government should address to assist your community. (The listed menu items were developed after reviewing legislative activities of Massachusetts Municipal Association (MMA), Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association (Mass APA), Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and others.)
- Prioritize the top three (3) issues that should be monitored with regard to the federal legislation that impact your community.
- Prioritize the top three (3) concerns that your community must address in the coming fiscal year. Options include housing, economic development, regionalization, energy, etc.
For more information on the Bills before the Massachusetts Legislature that are referenced in the survey, visit the website of the 187th General Court/Massachusetts State Legislature.
For those completing the survey and providing their email address, CMRPC will provide a summary of the survey results. If you have other comments or suggestions related to current or proposed state or federal legislation that would benefit our communities, please contact Trish Settles at tsettles@cmrpc.org or (508)459-3320.
